Learning to Feel at Ease With Yourself

(And better understood in your relationships).

Why a separate page for therapy for men? Because men are different, of course? (Haven’t you been telling that to the women of your lives forever?!) We get it. Most men are not seeking therapy because they’re just looking to connect with themselves in a deeper way. Don’t get us wrong, it happens. But chances are, you’re here because there has been an “event” that pushed you over the limit. You lost a relationship that seemed so good. Your marriage is falling apart and you don’t fully know why. You’re misunderstood and can’t quite convey the reasons to those who are hurt in the process. Or you’re not entirely sure that you should be here at all but your partner wants it to happen!

Men feel just as much as women do. But they generally don’t develop the language around feelings nearly as much as they do around facts. Men are quicker to make decisions and slower to explain–clearly a protective adaptation that has helped our species to evolve and thrive through times of danger when a man’s role has been to take care of his women and children. But all relationships are invariably built upon a blending of both facts and feelings; right brain sensory experience and left-brain analytical thinking. Many men don’t even know how to talk about feelings without fearing the threat of being judged or hurting others. But sometimes, being listened to and heard is what a man needs to relieve the pressure.

We’re your valve. And we’ll help you develop the skills to better know yourself, your feelings, and the feelings of those around you.

“Here’s all you have to know about men and women: women are crazy, men are stupid. And the main reason women are crazy is that men are stupid.”
