Teen Anxiety Camp.
A summer wellness experience for teens
led by Sarah J. Mitchell, LICSW, Therapist.
The transition from childhood to adolescence is a very challenging time in the lives of young people. During the teenage years, peer approval and belonging play an important role in the development of healthy self-esteem and self confidence. Young people are often occupied with the fear of “not being good enough” or “being judged by others.” The goal of this therapeutic group is for teens to seek healthier ways to cope with anxiety, and develop healthier relationships with friends and family.
I will guide participants to learn new communication and relationship skills that will increase confidence and self-esteem, and develop a way to break out of destructive behavior patterns. I will help your teen identify what healthy relationships should look like – both with themselves and others – and teach them how to set boundaries and advocate for themselves. Our group will teach students how to identify and understand their own emotions and help them learn how to share them with others.
If your young teen is struggling with feeling insecure and identifying achievable goals, this therapeutic group can help them find a way forward. As they build authentic connections and accomplish goals they’ve set for themselves, they will discover their inner strengths and gain new confidence.

*Struggling with low self-esteem and decision-making
*Worrying about things that are outside of their control
*Catastrophizing and thinking things are much worse than they are
*Feelings of restlessness and difficulty concentrating
*Becoming withdrawn, uneasy in social settings
*Feeling out of control of thoughts and emotions
*Experiencing panic attacks
*Feeling inadequate or like a failure
*Trouble setting realistic goals and worrying about failure to launch
In this group participants will:
*Learn the science of how anxiety affects the brain
*Learn ways to identify and manage emotions
*Challenge their fears and try out new ideas
*Learn to express themselves so others can connect with them better
*Provide and receive support from peers
*Be in a fun, safe and supportive therapeutic environment
*Meet individually with therapist for 1-1 session in addition to group sessions

Tuesday, Jul 12, 2022 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Wednesday July 13 or Thursday, Jul 14, 2022 - time set aside for individual therapy
Friday, Jul 15, 2022 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM
The cost for anxiety camp is $499/person.
Anxiety camp will be held at our Wenham Office, located at 225 Main Street, Wenham, MA 01984.
